I put a clean copy of Windows 8.1 on this laptop and the driver gave me limited WiFi. The problem, I think, is that the latest driver from Broadcom or Microsoft is not compatible with Windows 8.1. I'm surprised they haven't fixed this, but thankfully there's a workaround.
